You're listening to the Journal Party podcast where every week we get together for the ultimate journal jam session as we journal through life together as a community. My name's Alex Gallner, and I'll be your host. So, Here's how it works. I'll give you a journal prompt and a groove, and you just start writing. After a few minutes, you'll hear a little bell that sounds like this, and we'll move on to the next prompt. After a couple minutes, you'll hear that bell again, and we'll move on to the next prompt and we'll just keep going on like that until we're finished. Feel free to write on whatever you like or even just follow along in your car. If you finish before the bell, you can try to dig deeper and elaborate or just chill out and enjoy the tunes. Don't overthink it. There's no wrong way to do this, so welcome to the party journal party. What's up party people? It's that time of year. Again, time to reflect on the year that was and set intentions for the year ahead. If you're like me, you might be tempted to gloss over the tough bits and focus on the good, but if we really wanna learn and grow from our experiences, it's important to get real about what went down in 2022. That's why today we're gonna be exploring five journal prompts to help you review your year, get your notebooks out, or if you're in your car, just pay attention to the road. What are you doing? All righty. Here comes prompt number one. What surprised you this year? What surprised you this year? Just start writing. Okay. Moving on to prompt number two. What were you most proud of? What were you most proud of this year? Let's keep it going with prompt number three. Who or what let you down this year? Who or what let you down this year? All right, we're over the hump. Here comes prop number four. What did you learn the hard way this year? What did you learn the hard way? Last prompt of the day and year, what or who contributed to your growth this year? What or who contributed to your growth this year? There it is. Wow. I cannot believe we are already wrapping up the year. Personally, I experienced an incredible amount of change. I think a younger me would've been overwhelmed, but I'm proud to say that I feel like I've got a pretty good grasp on what's going on and what I can control. Look, I know I'm the journaling guy, and I'm supposed to say stuff like this, but I really attribute much of my progress to my journal. I mean, I can literally flip back through my entries over the past year, and I'll be honest, it wasn't all pretty, but I love it. I feel good, and I hope that you feel good too. Journaling is obviously a great way to process your thoughts and feelings. That said, it can also be helpful to talk things out with a friend or a therapist, so if you're unsure where to start, try reaching out to a professional for guidance if you need help. I am a huge advocate for therapy personally. It's transformed my life and combined with the journal, it's just. Extremely powerful. I highly recommend it. So if you're unsure where to start, try reaching out to a professional for guidance. As much as I'd like to give my journal all the credit, being able to organize my thoughts and then bring them to therapy for deeper work is just a total game changer. So, I highly recommend it. All righty. Well, let me get off that self-care soapbox so we can wrap this thing up. No matter how 2022 treated you, it is important to take some time at the end of the year to reflect on what went down. So by journaling about your experiences both good and bad, you can gain valuable insights that will help you to create a more joyful, meaningful life in 2023 and beyond. Now if you wanna keep going with your yearly review, I've got a new guided journaling program up on the site for you called Year In Review. I know it's pretty on the nose, but just visit journalparty.com and you'll see it up there on our list of guided journaling programs and it's totally free. I'll make sure to put a link up in the show notes. As well, and that's our show. Folks, thank you so much for journaling with us. Hit me up on Twitter and Instagram at@journalpartyomg I would just love to hear your thoughts and please do send in your requests for different prompt themes. Please leave a review and spread the word so we can make this an even bigger party next week. And I hope you have a wonderful week this week. Happy New Year and party on.
