JOURNAL PARTY! JOURNAL PARTY PODCAST! JOURNAL PARTY! JOURNAL PARTY PODCAST! What's up, party people? You're listening to the Journal Party Podcast, where every week we get together for a little guided journaling jam sesh. My name is Alex Gallner, and I'll be your host, so here's how it works. I'll give you a journal prompt and a groove, and you just start writing. After a few minutes, you'll hear a little bell that sounds like this, and we'll move on to the next prompt. After a couple minutes, you'll hear that bell again, and we'll move on to the next prompt, and we'll just keep going on like that until we're finished. Feel free to write on whatever you like, and if you finish before the bell, you can try to dig deeper and elaborate, or just chill out and enjoy the tunes. Don't overthink it, there's no wrong way to do this, so welcome to the party. Journal party! My friends, it has been quite an interesting several days for me and mine over here at Journal Party HQ. Actually, I'm not at Journal Party HQ. I'm currently down in Carlsbad. Carlsbad and a couple days before that we were in Encinitas because Journal Party HQ is in Los Angeles and if you've been keeping up with the news, well, LA is on fire. And so We bugged out. We, uh, we escaped. Uh, it seems that our house is still intact. I can't say the same for some of my friends. So it's definitely a dire situation, but we made it out and we're breathing some fresh air down here. So I'm feeling happy and grateful about that. And most importantly, um, I wasn't going to let today go by without. Drop in a journal party podcast, and you might hear that it sounds a little different. That's because I'm outside of our regular studio. And so I hope the audio quality is okay. But, you know, this was something that I made a promise to myself that I would do. And so. Even without the normal equipment that I would use, I'm, I'm still going to try to get it done for us all today. You know, I was, I was thinking about that whole concept. Um, actually, I drove back into Los Angeles today to pick up some additional supplies. And as I was driving back, I was listening to Jim Rohn, who is a very famous, uh, motivational speaker, if you're not familiar. And he was discussing the, the concept of resolve. And he mentioned that one of his younger. Um, actually provided a definition for that, and she was in grade school, so this was super impressive, and, um, she defined resolve as when you, when you make a promise to yourself that you're never going to quit, something to that effect, and that's not the exact definition, but I thought it was a pretty good one. It's pretty, pretty solid definition, and it got me thinking, you know, what, what. Are the things that, that I have that sort of resolve for, what are the sorts of promises that I've made for myself? And well, you know, the first thing that came to mind was this podcast. And so I definitely wanted to make sure that I got this done today and not, not that it's something that I just get done. This is something that I absolutely love. And so. Aside from not having all the equipment at the ready, it's uh, it's pretty easy, it's pretty fun, and so hopefully we're gonna enjoy it all together today and have a good time. So, let me start by setting a little bit of a scene for you here. You're sitting on the couch, you're staring at a pile of dishes in the sink, or maybe a half finished project on your desk. You feel the weight of it, right? That nudge in your brain that says, you should really handle this. But instead, you scroll on your phone, or maybe you binge another episode of whatever, because it's easier. Does that sound familiar? It's familiar to me. And here's the thing about resolve. It's not this big, dramatic, movie moment decision, or it doesn't have to be. It's usually a quiet, steady force. A decision that we make over and over again to show up for the things that we care about, even when it's hard. So today, we're going to be jamming through five journal prompts to connect with your inner resolve, that steady fire inside of you. So open up that journal and let's get this party started. Here comes prompt number one. What is something you've followed through on in the past that you're proud of? Let yourself sink into that memory. What helped you see it through even when it was hard? Prompt number two. Think about an area of your life right now where you feel stuck or you feel like giving up. What would it feel like to approach it with fresh resolve? Describe what that might look like even in the smallest steps. Prompt number three. Write about a time when you wanted to quit something but decided to keep going anyway. What motivated you to stick with it? And how did that decision shape you? Prompt number four. If Resolve were a person, what kind of personality would it have? Would it be a patient coach? A tough love friend, or maybe a quiet grounding presence. Describe it, and how it might support you now. Prompt number five, finish this sentence. If I commit to one thing for myself this week, it's going to be blank. Let it be simple and actionable. Something that you can realistically honor. I'll give you the sentence again. If I commit to one thing for myself this week, it's going to be Blank. Alright, my friends, take a deep breath and let all those insights settle in. Resolve doesn't have to mean being perfect or superhuman, it's about staying in the game, taking it one step at a time, and honoring your own capacity.
